This image shows a neonatal mouse cochlea that was labelled with antibodies that recognize Sox2 (green) which marks the supporting cell nuclei and filamentous actin (red) which marks cell membranes and the chevron-shaped stereociliary bundles on the apex of sensory hair cells. Supporting cells are promising therapeutic targets for sensory hair cell regeneration for the treatment of hearing loss – the most common sensory disorder worldwide.
